Lone Worker Protection

Unlike traditional ‘fixed site’ systems that rely on radio frequencies, for example, there is no hard wiring or installation costs.

At all times Chubb keeps the customer fully informed of developments, and a precise log of all calls received and made, and the time taken to respond.

Chubb is licensed as an Approved Contractor by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

The safety of lone workers in potentially hazardous or hostile environments is paramount in any responsible organisation. Chubb SmartCall protects lone workers in all manner of remote or potentially hazardous environments, such as petrochemical, pharmaceutical, or heavy industrial sites.

Chubb’s simple yet highly effective SmartCall solution is particularly innovative since it combines existing mobile telephone technology with its own security monitoring capability, allowing organisations not only to meet the requirements of new health and safety legislation, but rather more importantly enabling them to be sure of getting to any worker in trouble within a specified time period.

Health and Safety at Work Act

New provisions within The Health & Safety at Work Act are explicit in giving companies a Duty of Care to protect their workforce operating out in the field.

Chubb's SmartCall Solution

This is why an increasing number of organisations are turning to Chubb, the UK’s leading provider of security services, to subscribe to the SmartCall solution, and ensure their staff are safe and in contact, any time of the day or night.

Dedicated Support 24/7

Each of the mobiles carried by the lone workers has its own Unique Reference Number (URN) and a dedicated phone line through to Chubb’s Security Monitoring Centre (SMC). The customer agrees a specific time period, for example hourly, for each individual to report in or be contacted.

When this happens, and because their mobile has its own ID, the details can be verified by the monitoring centre. Details can then be agreed regarding subsequent reporting, for example, when the worker has arrived at or left the site and how long they expect to be there.

Emergency Response

If, for whatever reason, the worker fails to report, then this is immediately flagged and the monitoring centre calls the individual’s mobile. If they fail to respond immediately, and then fail to respond again within a specified time period, then the situation is deemed to be an emergency, and mobile patrol officers are dispatched by Chubb.

“It is extremely easy to set up, and can be operating almost immediately. Unlike traditional ‘fixed site’ systems that relied on radio frequencies, for example, there is no hard wiring or installation costs, and the remote workers can be genuinely ‘mobile’ moving from one location to the next”.
