Typical Applications - Mid Level Intruder & Panic Attack Alarm

Secure monitoring, such as BT Redcare, continually checks the communication path to the alarm receiving centre and generates an alarm signal if the line is cut.

With more than 500 engineers, based in local teams near you, Chubb offers an efficient service to install and service intruder and panic attack alarms.

When it comes to electronic security, Chubb is chosen to protect all types of businsses, of all sizes, nationwide.

A mid level intruder and panic attack alarm would be specified for medium to large stand-alone site with up to 8 areas requiring protection. This would be suitable for medium to large commercial premises. The specified system would incorporate a range of protection devices, some of which could be wireless, and would be designed in accordance with PD6662 and DD243, to generate an effective response by keyholders, and if necessary, the Police. The system could also incorporate basic access control.

What products would be used?

A typical mid level intruder and panic attack alarm could consist of a control panel, that can be managed from a single PC, along with up to 8 keypads and 34 protection devices which can be divided up into separate areas requiring protection. There can be a maximum of 8 areas. This system will accommodate a range of different protection devices, such as infra-red movement detectors, door contacts, break-glass sensors and panic attack switches. The system is able to support wireless protection devices, and could incorporate secure monitoring to detect line cuts. A mid level intruder and panic attack alarm system could also be easily extended to incorporate basic access control for 2 doors, with up to 40 authorised proximity tokens. A mid level intruder alarm would comply with EN Standards Grade 3, and would be ideal for a medium to large sized commercial premises, such as offices for a financial services company, a school or a storage and distribution centre.

How many users could I have?

A mid level intruder and panic attack alarm would be capable of accommodating up to 40 users, with a varying level of authority to set, unset and run reports from the system. The control panel records up to 500 events and features in-built diagnostics and includes remote management software, allowing you to manage multiple sites from a single location..

What technologies would it incorporate?

The system supports both hardwired and wireless protection devices, and can be set or un-set using proximity tokens and by entering a PIN number on a keypad. Protection devices operate using a combination of technologies, such as infra-red, microwave, vibration or personal attack switches to provide alarm confirmation, whether in the form of sequential, audio or visual confirmation of an alarm signal. The control panel then determines if an alarm has been initiated and responds with a choice of functions, such as activating a strobe, an alarm sounder, and by sending a signal to a Chubb alarm receiving centre (ARC) to trigger a keyholder response, and, if the alarm is confirmed, a Police response. The system can also provide limited access control functionality.

What happens if my requirements change in the future?

A mid level intruder and panic attack alarm is limited to up to 34 protection devices and 8 keypads. This system would be suitable for mediium to large sized commercial premises. If required, Chubb can upgrade an entry level system to increase the coverage or to match the level of risk determined by a security audit. This could involve changing the control panel and adding to the protection devices. Chubb installs technologically advanced systems that comply with all relevant legislation and standards, and are designed to operate effectively for years to come.
