Typical Applications - Top Level Intruder & Panic Attack Alarm

A Chubb Security Audit is a detailed assessment of your security risks and determines the level of protection required at a site. This is required in order to comply with PD6662 and EN50131.

The latest range of motion detectors feature anti-masking technology and are reliable at generating confirmed alarm signals.

A top level intruder and panic attack alarm would be specified for large complex sites or multiple sites linked together by a communications network. It can accommodate up to 32 areas requiring protection and would be suitable for a corporate headquarters or a chain of retail outlets. The specified system could incorporate high security wired and wireless protection devices, and possibly a smoke security system, and would be designed in accordance with PD6662 and DD243, to generate an effective response by keyholders, and if necessary, the Police. The system could also incorporate extensive access control features.

What products would be used?

A typical top level intruder and panic attack alarm could consist of one or more control panels, that can be managed by a central PC. Each control panel could have up to 32 keypads and 512 protection devices, divided up into separate areas requiring protection. There can be a maximum of 32 areas per control panel. This system will accommodate a range of high security protection devices, such as dual technology movement detectors, door and shutter contacts, break-glass and seismic sensors and panic attack switches. The system is able to support wireless protection devices, would incorporate secure monitoring with radio GSM backup to overcome line cuts, and possibly smoke security, to protect against theft in the moments following an alarm activation. A top level intruder and panic attack alarm system could also be easily extended to incorporate  access control for up to 32 doors and up to 1000 authorised proximity cards or tokens. A top level intruder alarm would comply with EN Standards Grade 3 and occasionally Grade 4, and would be ideal for high risk sites, such as banks, universities or a chain of retail outlets.

How many users could I have?

A top level intruder and panic attack alarm would be capable of accommodating up to 1000 users (800 with access control privileges only), with a varying level of authority to set, unset and run reports from the system. The control panel records up to 500 events, features in-built diagnostics, and includes remote management software, allowing you to manage multiple sites from a single location.

What technologies would it incorporate?

The system supports both hardwired and wireless protection devices, and can be set or un-set using proximity tokens and cards, and by entering a PIN number on a keypad. Protection devices operate using a combination of technologies, such as infra-red, microwave, vibration or personal attack switches to provide alarm confirmation, whether in the form of sequential, audio or visual confirmation of an alarm signal. Movement detectors also feature 'Anti-Masking' technology to detect if an object is obscuring the detection area. The control panel then determines if an alarm has been initiated and responds with a choice of functions, such as a activating a strobe, a alarm sounder, a smoke security system and by sending a confirmed signal to a Chubb alarm receiving centre (ARC) to generate a keyholder response, and, if necessary, a Police response. With integrated proximity access control functionality, it is possible to restrict and control access for 1000 employees and visitors.

What happens if my requirements change in the future?

A top level intruder and panic attack alarm is modular and scalable and can satisfy extreme site requirements. The top end intruder and panic attack alarm system can also provide access control for up for 32 doors. If it is known that a site will require access control for greater than 32 doors, or 1000 users, and it is likely that CCTV will be used to protect the site, then it would be beneficial to upgrade to a fully integrated security management system. This could involve changing the control panel and control equipment and adding to the protection devices. Chubb installs technologically advanced systems that comply with all relevant legislation and standards, and are designed to operate effectively for years to come.
