Live Fire Demonstration Days

Get hands on experience of using an extinguisher

and a fire blanket...

Visit a fire station

A Scout is awarded his Fire Safety badge by a representative from the local fire and rescue service and Chubb Fire...

In conjunction with the Fire and Rescue Service, Chubb organises local fire demonstrations that Scouts can take part in in order to complete their badge.  Scouts have the opportunity to use an extinguisher on a real live fire, and visit a fire station.

Chubb Fire are holding four live fire demonstrations in 2008:

  • Cirencester Fire Station, Chesterton Lane, Cirencester, Gloucestershire, GL7 1YL – Thursday 21st February 2008 starting at 10:30

  • Horsham Fire Station, Hurst Road, Horsham, West Sussex, RH12 2DN - Tuesday 8th April 2008 starting at 10:30

  • Hinckley Fire Station, Leicester Road, Hinckley, Leicestershire, LE10 1LW - Thursday 29th May 2008 starting at 10:30

  • Wakefield Fire Station, Brunswick Street, Wakefield, West Yorkshire, WF1 4PA - Wednesday 29th October 2008 starting at 10:30

The event should take approximately two hours and, if possible, may include a tour of the fire station. All Scout groups are welcome, but as space is limited at fire stations, please book your place (including Group name and number of Scouts and Leaders attending) to nick.williams@chubb.co.uk

fire demonstrations

Hands-on experience of the very hottest kind!

Probably the highlight for young people, and certainly the events that attracted the most media attention, are the live fire demonstrations. These have taken place – quite literally – the length and breadth of the country from Aberdeen to Truro, often involving the local Fire Brigades and – in the case of Manchester – the City’s mayor!  Since part of the Badge requires Scouts to understand how to use fire blankets and extinguishers, the demonstrations provided them with hands-on experience of the very hottest kind!
