System Service Engineers

JOB TITLE: SYSTEMS SERVICE ENGINEER
DEPARTMENT: SYSTEMS SERVICE
REPORTING TO: SERVICE MANAGER

Job Purpose:

  • To attend client locations to carry out routine service work and repairs on fire alarm/emergency lighting systems.
  • To maximise the sales potential for the company's products and services within an agreed territorial area and to ensure that worthwhile business is secured as a result.
  • All work carried out in accordance with the relevant company instructions and in line with current British Standards.


Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the contacting of all or any potential customers for the company within an agreed territory with a view to promoting the Company's products and services.
  • Responsible for surveying customer's properties and preparing detailed schemes and proposals for all works as might be determined as the customers requirements.
  • Trace and repair faults at client locations
  • Replace existing equipment found to be faulty
  • Work with FP200/MICC cable
  • To be on standby callout, out of hours, on a rota basis
  • Respond to any emergency call to clients
  • Carry out routine Service work, ensuring that all recommendations and deviations from current standards are reported.
  • Prepare detailed quotations for remedial and improvement work so that the office can type and pass to client.
  • Achieve any personal targets set down by the company
  • Follow the company laid down procedure
  • Wear the work wear provided at all times
  • Ensure vehicle is kept clean and tidy in accordance with the company manual
  • Work outside normal area to cover sickness/holiday and workload considerations
  • Attend any training courses that the company deemed necessary
  • Ensure that paperwork is submitted in line with Management instructions
  • Any other reasonable duties as directed by Management

    Preferred skills:

    • To be able to communicate at all levels with customers
    • Able to work on own initiative
    • Team Member
    • Knowledge of the Fire Protection Industry
    • Extensive knowledge of Fire Alarm and Emergency Lighting systems

      essentialskills:

      • City & Guilds 236 pt 1 and 2 in Electrical Installation and maintenance, or equivalent
