Getting Security into Shape

Health and fitness operator, Cannons Group Ltd, has 65 sites nationwide stretching from Aberdeen to Plymouth, which offer members fitness and relaxation facilities. With around 3500 team members, the health and safety of its employees is a key priority to Cannons. Chubb Electronic Security is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

To ensure the smooth running of each site and to meet the company’s policy on health and safety, it turned recently to Chubb and its Emergency Response Services. Tim Waller Group Health & Safety Manager explains:

“Previously if the intruder alarm is activated at the site, team members who were key holders could be contacted at any hour of the night. With Chubb’s Keyholding and Response services, should an alarm be triggered, it is confirmed by a central Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC). Chubb is then contacted and a Response Officer is despatched. Using Chubb’s broad network of regional branches, a Response Officer equipped with appropriate keys and access codes can be on site within a very short timeframe. They are then able to assess the situation and contact the police if necessary.”

“By working with these specialists we can be sure that the security of our sites is in safe hands while our teams can focus on running the business. We receive a weekly report of activations across all sites, which enables us to monitor the situation as a whole and identify any areas that require action.”

“The Chubb Response Officers feedback to the General Managers of each site, should an alarm activation occur, and reset the alarm etc. This ensures that everyone is in the picture and actions are taken quickly.”
