Mechanical and Electrical Quantity Surveyor

JOB TITLE: MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL QUATITY SURVEYOR
DEPARTMENT: FIRE INSTALL BUSINESS 
REPORTING TO: PURCHASING MANAGER / HEAD OF OPERATIONS (INSTALL)

We are currently recruiting a mechanical and electrical quantity surveyor to develop and implement robust procedures within Fire UK Install business for the use of subcontractors for our fire detection and suppression systems.

key responsibilities:

  • Sign off within existing process of all new supplier agreements with Purchasing, Quality and Health Safety & Environment.
  • Implement procedures for monitoring of subcontractor costs and efficiency within the Fire UK Install business.
  • Identify areas for Subcontractor spend improvement, develop action plan and implement.
  • In conjunction with Finance review monthly on cost savings actual versus budget target.
  • In conjunction with Install management team develop and bring online sufficient new subcontractors that support the business requirements.
  • Investigate and implement costing structures that identify best practise.  Monitor performance of Install branches use of subcontractors to achieve specific cost down targets.

    experience / knowledge requirements:

    • Have managed subcontractors within a supply chain environment.
    • Have experience of mechanical and electrical installation preferably fire detection.
    • Be familiar with Construction and Mechanical and Electrical industry
    • Have a good level of interpersonal skills specifically internal customer relationship working across business functions and the ability to put in place plans against resistance.
    • Be proficient in the use of company office systems, including excel, word and access.
    • Have strong verbal and written skills.
    • Work accurately with a strong attention to detail

      person criteria:

      • Be a team player.
      • Be well organised, plans workload and works to set time constraints.
      • Be able to work under pressure to achieve tight timescales for order placement.
      • Have a firm approach with a high level of influencing skills.
      • Be a self motivated individual focused on delivering to deadlines.
